Getting early and regular prenatal care is a key to a healthy pregnancy. Take care of yourself and your baby by seeing a doctor as soon as you know you’re pregnant or think you might be. You’ll be scheduled for many checkups throughout the pregnancy – usually starting with monthly checkups and then more frequent checkups as your pregnancy progresses. These visits allow your health care provider to detect problems early, many of which can be resolved with early treatment. It’s important that you do not miss any of these appointments.
All pregnant women must have access to prenatal care. If you are pregnant (or think you are pregnant) and are uninsured, the Lincoln Trail District Health Department can help. Our staff can enroll you in temporary Medicaid coverage and provide necessary clinical services. Contact your local health center for more information.
